Calvin's Tomorrow's World

Ever wondered of Time travelling? It seems all too hard when we cannot even do anything but let Time slip through our fingers. We can actually travel through Time, even now. Einsteinian theories of the relativity between time and space are not needed; neither are huge gears or some eccentric machinery. Just of a flicker of imagination will bring you to Tomorrow’s World…

Well, it’s the third millennium by now if you can imagine. Technology is at its best. Computers are now installed with the latest Doors 3000 or Pear OS X free of charge. There are no longer bulky Central Processing Units, just a touch screen with a glassy feel. Everything is really at your fingertips, just touch and go. Gone are also the noisy typing keyboards and numb fingers of typists. Speak or even think the words and the screen will display it as wanted. No enough space to store data? No more worries about hard drives or portable drives or insufficient Random Access Memory, for something called Exceeding-1-Billion-Gigabytes-Limitless-Storage-Disc is available! Plus an extra point – no more computer crash-downs and no more viruses, spy-ware, ad-ware, or whatsoever, only freeware. There is just simply no problem dealing with technology. Every computer user is totally satisfied.

It is not just the technology is great, but the environment too. The landscape is just entirely WOW-some. High skyscrapers reaching almost outer space and low earth-scrapers reaching almost the inner core. The air is not polluted but gets fresher by the atto-seconds (that is the factor of 10−18). The ozone holes are repaired and humans somehow through their courageous astrophysical endeavour are able to make the Sun shine without its harmful, radioactive rays. A green environment exists as green as when the first plants appeared. Some extinct animals and plants are also being re-introduced, except dinosaurs of course. The Oxenford dictionary finally eliminates words like pollution, radioactivity, extinction and even death.

Hence, humans live forever and are no longer bounded by cancer and disease. Death is confirmed dead. People used to think that if humans were allowed to live forever and babies were still being born, then Earth will run out of space. Then again, scientists went to work and were able to make Earth expand larger without any side effects on the environment. Thus humans never seem to run out of space to live in, even though the population continues to increase in zillions. Great grandparents can at least meet their 10th generation grandchildren as of Year 3000. The cost of living is reduced to nothing as money is abolished. Such source of evil being eradicated is indeed a great step to humanity. Humans no longer need to work as all the past hard work was well paid off by the invention of will-never-take-over-humanity-programmed robots. Humans no longer suffered from Monday blues or any work tension. Every day is a holiday and quality time is spent together with family members. It does not contribute to laziness actually, as laziness is not that fun after all, if at all BORING! Travelling is also made much easier and more environmentally friendly. Just think of the place and you are there. No need to pay for the ever-rising petrol price or burdensome highway tolls.

As every one is enjoying life, Oxenford Dictionary has long eliminated the word crime. Nobody knew what it meant. There is practically no need to commit crime. Why should rob banks when there is no money? Just as people beginning to enjoy life, they begin to discover what Life itself is. Life itself is not work, not money but happiness. With mindsets and focus redirected, people live even more harmoniously. In this time, people are more sensible. One knows when to stay away at a distance. Without irritation and jealousy, people not just refrain from crime, but start to respect each other. This is the time when the word enemy is being eliminated from the Oxenford Dictionary. Wouldn’t it be so much better that the Dictionary is much lighter? Students are all the more grateful…

“Okay, stop day-dreaming” your friends might say “Enough of this make-belief childish thing! Doors 3000 and Pear OS X? Totally ridiculous! This guy has seen such a computer with such and such copyrighted names in this Today’s World. Now, he desires a better computer and so imagined a more high-tech, more advanced computer system and called it Doors 3000 or whatsoever. This is pretty much make-belief. This guy couldn’t imagine other things without copying it from the real world. It isn’t just possible. And history is always repetitive. Wars will continue, blood will be shed, and terrorism will be all the more abounding. How to abolish money if these greedy humans are still around? It’s more like gearing towards to the end of the world than such a Tomorrow’s World. Death is not dead. Haven’t studied physics concept called entropy? That everything is getting more and more chaotic?”

Many are shaking their heads now in Today’s World, some probably of ecstasy pills, undeniably. There is just no way this is Tomorrow’s World. It is just some wild imagination, too wild in fact. Many simply put it as wishful desires, even self-hallucination. Take some things in the present and add some sugar and voila – a perfect tomorrow’s world. They are continuously taking the words Tomorrow’s World literally. It is just the same old tomorrow – mundane and unchangeable. However I think otherwise. I know this one fact that drives us to the future. This time travelling machine called Imagination just shows how prehistoric Today’s World is. Imagination does not dry my brain but it dries the so called advancement in Today’s World. It doesn’t matter if my imagination is true. It only matters if I have Faith in my imagination. Therefore, dearest readers, Tomorrow’s World is not to be contained in a magic crystal ball, neither is it held in the stars. Let us have Faith in our imagination, a foundation of the knowledge that a better future is possible and not just possible, but a reality. I will live as though there is a Tomorrow’s World like this even though there is not a Tomorrow’s World like this! Would you?
