Pitcher Plant Haven

Genting Highlands, the city of entertainment, of temptation and of risking. Well, Calvin is not some gambler who goes up to Casino de Genting, especially during church camp... However, Calvin loves entertainment, always tempted to go there and risk everything to find treasures. Haha, not worldly wealth of course.

Let me introduce to you the other treasure God created for us to be entertained, to be tempted and to be risked: PITCHER PLANTS!!! (periuk kera, monkey cup, zhu long cao or whatever horrible names you want to give it)

Never thought of such wonderful plants actually exists in such a busy place? Sometimes, you just need to walk a few more steps and see carefully. There it lays quietly hidden among bushes, waiting to be discovered.

Finding it is really like finding treasure. Amidst the green, the red come striking red with shouts of excitement. And it really takes observant eyes and willing to go into unknown bushes to discover them.

Ok, I've just gotta tell you that you can't find it in the theme park or the overbuilt areas. It is  somewhere farther and even you walk farther but not familiar with it, you still can't find it. Won't tell you the location either, because some feng shui crazy people who read my blog will start rummaging throughout the whole terrain and try to take off every wind and water they can get.

Yeah, this is the main redness they are looking for... the very "ong" one.

For some, it's the golden ones they are after. Very tempting ,eh?

Some of them are even willing to find a natural 18K gold jamban (aka toiletbowl)...LOL

However, tall Calvin will prefers more of those which reflects his physique...

Although I'm joking around with the pictures, I'm sure you are starting to admire these magnificent plants. It's truly an amazing creation!

However, if you ever tried to hunt it like treasure, the excitement and joy are indescribable... Perhaps describable, haha, like Linnaeus (yeah, that great guy who classified all living things with his binomial system):

[In Homer's Odyssey, Helen threw the drug 'nepenthe' into wine to relieve the cares of her guests, the Greek word 'nepenthe' means without grief.] If this is not Helen's Nepenthes, it certainly will be for all botanists. What botanist would not be filled with admiration if, after a long journey, he should find this wonderful plant. In his astonishment past ills would be forgotten when beholding this admirable work of the Creator!

So, next time you happen to go to Genting and experienced a sad and gloomy day, especially when it rains almost every minute and you can't play at the outdoor theme park worth the money you paid or lost all your property to Genting Corporation, ask Calvin to bring you see some 'nepenthe' to relieve your grief... Haha, any time seriously...
